School Bus Project

The late Chief of Sexaxa, Mr Moalosi, campaigned for years denigrating the lack of recognition of Sexaxa as an official village and the subsequent lack of facilities they should have been heir to such as a local school and clinic.   Here’s one famous report in the press of an  interview headlined Suffer the Children of a Lesser Population to give you an idea of the message he was trying to convey. When his grand-daughter, Boikanyo, discussed possible action with him in 2008 he agreed that it was a good idea to set up a project to purchase a school bus to take the kids to school while waiting for the government to recognise Sexaxa as a bona fide village and deliver the long sought after final solution.  Boikanyo started collecting donations in 2009.

The target was £8,000 and the total collected so far up to 30Sep14 is £6,035 from 167 contributors and this turned out to be enough!

Progress report in December 2014: 5 years after this project started we finally collected enough to purchase a minibus and send it to Botswana – please see the pictures and credits here – you should have been there to see how pleased the villagers were to receive it.  Thank you all so much for your generous contributions! Any further contributions received will be used to provide fuel for the minibus.  Please see www.princessboikanyo.org for more information about the project which is now completed.

However, the pupils are still in need of sustenance to see them through a long day at school so a separate project was raised for this at Indigogo.
